“My whole life has revolved around medicine. I have one uncle who is a dentist, another who is a pathologist and a cousin who is a vascular surgeon. My mother is an RN and my father was the podiatrist responsible for starting this practice in 1958. My older brother is a pediatric cardiologist, but my sister, Cheryl, and I have followed in Dad’s footsteps.
“During high school, I was active in wrestling, tennis and track. I became interested in the sports medicine component of podiatry when I started having sports-related foot injuries. My father treated me, which I thought was cool.
“Today I have the privilege of traveling around the world giving lectures and educating others on advances in podiatry. I cover a variety of interesting topics. However, the most innovative and inspiring subject is the use of frames – external fixation devices used to help repair bone damage caused mainly by diabetes.”
